Winter 2014

In just under 1.5 months we prototyped over 24 solar tiles for two working design prototypes. These customizable solar tiles modularily connect to each other. From ideating, designing, CADing, to executing, I was responsible for the "Lego Design" approach while also contributing to the "Breadboard Design" approach. Like legos, the lego like prototype can be attached to another tile in order to complete a circuit. In the breadboard like prototype, tiles attach to a prewired mounting board.

Sistine Solar

"Sistine Solar designs and builds semi-transparent solar roofs, canopies and awnings. Our one of a kind solar panels feature custom prints, images and logos. For us, solar is a design element, not an after-thought."

Spring-Summer 2014

The parklet sits right outside MeiMei's cafe at 506 Park Drive, Boston. The pilot, a collaboration with Parkolation and Boston Green Academy, was funded by Kickstater. Check it out. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/901859291/parkolation). My responsibilities for this project were primarily identifying, experimenting, and selecting a material and method in order to add an aesthetic layer on a solar module. I worked in grasshopper to develop an algorithm for printing designs to optimize the module's power output and the design resolution. I also worked on the final assembly of the module.
